Risk of breast cancer two years after a benign biopsy depends on the mammographic feature prompting recall

چکیده
Objective We aimed to explore whether the type of mammographic feature prompting a false-positive recall (FPR) during mammography screening influences risk and timing breast cancer diagnosis, particularly if assessed with invasive procedures. Study design included information on women screened recalled for further assessment in Spain between 1994 2015, follow-up until 2017, categorizing FPRs by (noninvasive or invasive) recall. Main outcome measures Breast rates first two years after FPR (first period) (second period). Results The study 99,825 FPRs. In both periods, rate was higher group than noninvasive period 12 ‰ vs 1.9 ‰, p < 0.001; second 4.4‰ 3.1‰, 0.001). During period, showed diverse each feature, asymmetric density (31.9‰). When compared first, decreased (from 12‰ 4.4‰, 0.001) increased 1.9‰ Conclusion context screening, diagnosis high undergoing assessment; importantly, modified This could help individualize exclusion malignancy.

BACKGROUND We examine benign breast biopsy diagnoses as reported by community pathologists in New Mexico and investigate associations with future breast cancer development. METHODS Using data collected between 1992 and 2000 by the New Mexico Mammography Project and cancer data through 2003 from the New Mexico Tumor Registry, we calculated breast cancer rates following 14,602 benign breast bio...

BACKGROUND Benign breast disease and high breast density are prevalent, strong risk factors for breast cancer. Women with both risk factors may be at very high risk. METHODS We included 42818 women participating in the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium who had no prior diagnosis of breast cancer and had undergone at least one benign breast biopsy and mammogram; 1359 women developed incide...

PURPOSE To retrospectively determine whether a Bayesian network (BN) computer model can accurately predict the probability of breast cancer on the basis of risk factors and mammographic appearance of microcalcifications, to improve the positive predictive value (PPV) of biopsy, with pathologic examination and follow-up as reference standards. MATERIALS AND METHODS The institutional review boa...
